You have the option of the bus, train, and cross-river ferry for access to Cork city along with easy access to the N25.

The view from this property is so good that a former Cork Harbour pilot decided this was where he would raise his family. The same gentleman had the distinction of guiding the iconic ocean liner the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2), into Ringaskiddy on the occasion of the Cunard Line celebrating 150 years in business in 1990. Even the head of the Royal Navy was stationed in the neighbouring property such was the spectacular view of the harbour below.

The property was bought some years ago and the current owners have done suitable upgrades like pumping the walls and attic as well as installing mechanical ventilation in all rooms. This has meant that the property went from E1 when sold a few years ago to now being a C3. There are however some far more interesting things about Corleigh that may intrigue the new owners, especially if they are into history!

When cutting back a nearby site that had been landlocked by the Burma Steps being built, the owners found a tunnel in immaculate condition. Turns out that the British Navy built a century tower here in the 1600s and essentially created the shortest river in Ireland which supplied drinking water to the entire Island during the 1900-1900s. A fantastic bit of history and an additional story that will no doubt entertain children and grandchildren for years to come!

Now about the house!! Built more than 50 years ago, Corleigh is a detached dormer bungalow and has a wonderful elevation, sitting high above the harbour and with the excellent good fortune of a south-facing garden.

The interior of the 1600 sq. ft house is laid out in almost a split-level design. On entering through the porch and front door, there are steps leading from the entrance hallway down to the dining area on one side and a living room looking out over those splendid views on the other. The living room has large windows and a fitted stove, but the views nearly make you want to turn the sofa around. TVs seem wasted with views like this. The kitchen, to the rear, is partially integrated and is up a few steps from the dining area. Past the dining areas you enter a conservatory which then leads to the rear garden and decking area.

Back to the entrance hall you have 2 bedrooms and a main bathroom to your left. As mentioned, the owners have installed mechanical ventilation which means no possible dampness. Upstairs in the dormer section you have 2 bedrooms again one of which is ensuite whilst the other has a dressing room. There is access to dormer attic, which is floored, and this measures 39ft * 15ft -so plenty of space for the luggage and Christmas decorations.

Services are mains water, septic tank, PVC double glazed windows and oil heating.
