Managing Director

James, like most in his family is steeped in property. From an early age James has grown organically through the stages of an auctioneer. Be that building with his first company ,Colbert Construction or heading up the lettings in Colbert & Co almost 15 years ago, James has developed into the sales person he is today by experiencing each stage of the process first hand. Now a qualified Auctioneer through the IPAV (Institute of Professional Auctioneers & Valuers) James has a wide knowledge of East Cork and with a 2nd office open in Carrigtwohill, he really is best placed to advise any potential client on the market.

John Hornibrook
Sales Director

Sales Director John is an extremely experienced agent with over 20 years’ worth of sales, the majority of those in the east Cork area with a national brand.

Having achieved a BSc (Bachelors of Science) in Estate Management from the University of Greenwich, John then went on to complete his Masters in Planning and Sustainable developments from University College Cork (UCC). This has given John the ability to not only sell but also lead many successful development sites. John prides himself on building relationships with clients so that he can develop and understand their requirements.

Mary O’ Brien
Office Manager

Mary is the latest member of our Team and is based in the Midleton Office. Mary has over 20 years’ experience working as an administrator and has worked in the property sectors in both Ireland and the UK. Mary has her Certificate in Auctioneering & Estate Agency with the IPAV.

Mary’s role with Colberts will be to assist with property administration and also assist with the management and maintenance of rental properties. Should you have any queries in relation to the sales process or require information on the maintenance of your property she would be delighted to take your call.

Jaimee Mangan
Sales Administrator

Jaimee is the first port of call for all your sales questions, queries and arrangement of viewings. Currently enrolled in her first year of the Auctioneering & Property Services Apprenticeship, Jaimee is extremely efficient when it comes to ensuring all files are up to date with current PSRA standards.

With a keen interest in the equestrian world and agricultural land, Jaimee brings a new diverse and welcomed aspect to the Colbert & Co team. Should you have any questions relating to the sale of your property, you can contact Jaimee on in our Midleton Office.

Sir Henry
Greetings Director

Henry joined our team in 2022, with no experience in the industry we took him under our wing and he is now our Chief Greetings Officer. He loves attention, belly rubs & being told he’s a good boy. You will find him in a cosy corner in one of our offices in East Cork. Be sure to pop in & say hi!

We are a family run business with over 30 years’ experience in this sector. We currently manage over 350 properties in the Cork region stretching from Cork city to Youghal and everywhere in between.

We have changed and tailored our business many times throughout its life span and will continue to do so in the future. Our market constantly changes and we like to stay ahead of the rest. We pride ourselves on honesty and customer satisfaction.

Our Let Only Service is suitable for more experienced Landlords who feel comfortable maintaining relationships with their tenants, collecting rent and managing any property issues themselves.

The core elements of our Let Only Service include:

  • – Marketing including online and traditional marketing
  • – Telephone filtering applicants to ensure suitability and reduce the number of unnecessary viewings.
  • – Conducting viewings, with evening and weekend appointments as required
  • – Full background checks on references
  • – Facilitating tenant and landlord meeting (if requested) before the Tenancy Agreement is signed.
  • – Drawing up the Tenancy Agreement in line with latest legislation
  • – Deposit registration and holding (if required)
  • – Utilities transfer to ensure that accurate readings and dates are provided.
  • – Welcome pack provided to new tenant & check-in on day of move-in where possible (if required)
  • – Initial months’ rent collection, with rent transfer within three working days of receipt.

As it stands we manage over 350 properties, we have been in the business over 30 years and have more than enough experience in the industry to assure you that your properties are in good hands. Although we are a small team, we are tight knit and everyone in the team is always in the loop which is easy for you and your employees to speak with anyone in the office at any given time.

We pride ourselves on honesty and good relationships with tenants, we ensure that not only do they like dealing with us but they trust us. The property is a home to the tenants and we ensure it remains that way.

What does the property manager offer?

Your property manager is assigned to you and your properties to ensure any maintenance issues that have been reported are seen to within a timely manner. All issues will be passed through your property manager and you will not be contacted unless absolutely necessary. A ‘price cap’ is put on all jobs, if this exceeds the amount, your property manager will be sure to contact you with a detailed description of the issue and more than one quote on request. Our property manager is available on the phone or in the office Monday-Friday and on email Saturday and Sunday.

What happens if there is an emergency?

We offer a 24-hour line for emergencies, all emergencies are outlined to tenants and any issues that are not considered emergencies, come with a charge. Our contractors are on call 24 hours a day. Once the issue has been dealt with, providing it is not over the price cap, you will be notified via email with a detailed description and what was done to rectify the problem and by what contractor.
